INSTALLATION

CAUTION:

Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: AIRBAG SYSTEM: PRECAUTION (2008 Sequoia) .

HINT:

The procedure described below is for the RH side. Use the same procedure for both the RH and LH sides, unless otherwise specified.

1. INSTALL SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Confirm that the ignition switch is turned off.

(b) Confirm that the cable is disconnected from the battery negative (-) terminal.

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Engage the guide and install the airbag sensor with the bolt.

Torque: 9.0 N·m (92 kgf·cm, 80 in·lbf)

NOTICE:

  • Do not use a side airbag sensor that has been dropped.
  • Do not subject the side airbag sensor to any impact or force.

(d) Confirm that there is no looseness by shaking the side airbag sensor.

(e) Connect the airbag connector.

2. INSTALL FRONT DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY DOOR / HATCH: FRONT DOOR: REASSEMBLY (2008 Sequoia)+

3. INSTALL FRONT ARMREST BASE UPPER PANEL DOOR / HATCH: FRONT DOOR: REASSEMBLY (2008 Sequoia)+

4. INSTALL FRONT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL PLUG DOOR / HATCH: FRONT DOOR: REASSEMBLY (2008 Sequoia)+

5. INSTALL FRONT DOOR LOWER FRAME BRACKET GARNISH DOOR / HATCH: FRONT DOOR: REASSEMBLY (2008 Sequoia)+

6. INSTALL FRONT DOOR LOWER FRAME BRACKET GARNISH (for 14 Speakers) DOOR / HATCH: FRONT DOOR: REASSEMBLY (2008 Sequoia)+

7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected INTRODUCTION: REPAIR INSTRUCTION: INITIALIZATION (2008 Sequoia) .

Torque: 5.4 N·m (55 kgf·cm, 48 in·lbf)

8. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT

(a) Inspect SRS warning light SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: AIRBAG SYSTEM: DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM (2008 Sequoia) .
